Working Towards a Better Future
VCHARS was set up for the purpose of providing a free advice and referral service to support victims families and friends of violent crime. Violent crime effects us all whether we accept it or not children are killing children we cannot choose to accept this as the new norm.
By providing help and support for the local community around the increasing issue of violent crime and engaging with the local community both adults and young people help to promote the awareness of the effect this has on families and loved ones.
This service was set up in memory of Luther Edwards who was killed on 29th July 2016 in York Hall Bethnal Green, London. Luther sustained two stab wounds to the heart after being attacked upon leaving a boxing match by multiple individuals. Luthers family have fought hard for justice and witnessed first hand the lack of help, support and information available to victims families. Our hope is that Luther’s memory can impact and help those that need it and fill the visible gap in the current system.
